Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza & Formentera) and is 110 km SW-NE and 70 km wide. Mallorca has a temperate subtropical climate with short, mild winters and long hot summers.
There are around one million inhabitants, where of 450.000 live in Palma, the capital. Two languages are spoken here - Castellano (called Spanish outside Spain) and Mallorquí which is the regional variant of the Catalan language.
Mallorca´s produce includes wine, olives, oranges and almonds. However tourism is Mallorca’s main income with around 15 million visitors every year. Many come here for the outdoors but there is also great shopping and many good restaurants to enjoy.
